National Black Women In Sports Day at the White House

On July 31, Diverse Representation, in partnership with the White House Office of Public Engagement, hosted National Black Women In Sports Day at the White House in Washington DC. The event featured a panel conversation with speakers Monica McNutt (Analyst, ESPN), Keia Clarke (CEO, New York Liberty), Nneka Ogwumike (Forward, Seattle Storm & President, WNBPA) and Lonnie Murray (MLB Agent). The panel was moderated by Jaia Thomas (Founder, Diverse Representation). Panelists discussed their experiences as Black women in the sports industry and shared insight on increasing representation. The panel was followed by a networking reception.

National Black Women In Sports Day

On July 7, Diverse Representation hosted a brunch in New York to celebrate National Black Women In Sports Day. Attendees included Black women from organizations and companies such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, NBPA, WNBA, Disney, Fanatics, Wasserman, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and more. 

National Black Women In Sports Day was created by Diverse Representation to celebrate Black women in the sports industry and advocate for greater representation. Click here for more information. 

 

Tribeca Film Festival

On June 7, 2024, Diverse Representation hosted a panel at the Tribeca Film Festival titled "The Future of Representation." Panelists discussed the evolving role of agents and managers in the entertainment industry and the impact of technology on talent discovery and promotion. Panelists included: Trey Witter (Manager, 3 Arts), Binta Brown, Esq. (Partner, Manatt, Phelps &  Phillips, LLP), Brian Boone (Agent, Creative Artists Agency (CAA)) and Isaiah Jones (Agent, United Talent Agency (UTA)). 

Black Entertainment Career Summit

On May 3-4, 2024, Diverse Representation hosted The Black Entertainment Career Summit. The Black Entertainment Career Summit is the first-of-its-kind event, specifically geared towards exposing Black professionals and Black students to various career opportunities in the entertainment industry. The event featured panel conversations and fireside chats with recruiters, executives, and human resource professionals from an array of studios, networks, production companies, and more. Speakers shared insight into various career opportunities as well as strategies and best practices for securing roles in the entertainment industry. The Summit also included onsite interviews.

Sports agent bootcamp 2024

On March 8-9, 2024, Diverse Representation hosted its Sports Agent Bootcamp in Washington DC. The two-day event featured a number of panel conversations, fireside chats, and interactive experiences, aimed at equipping attendees with the tools to pursue careers as sports agents. Toast To Black Sports luncheon at Super Bowl LVIII

On February 8, 2024, Diverse Representation, in partnership with Minorities In Sports, hosted their second annual Toast To Black Sports luncheon at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, NV. The event honored two of the Black NFL team presidents - Jason Wright (president, Washington Commanders) and Kevin Warren (president, Chicago Bears). Sponsors: Octagon and Goldman Sachs. 

Black Ownership In Sports Symposium

On September 8th, Diverse Representation hosted its inaugural Black Ownership In Sports Symposium in Atlanta. The goal of the event was to educate Black professionals about the inner workings of purchasing and owning professional sports teams. Speakers included Warrick Dunn (Minority Owner, Atlanta Falcons), Paxton Baker (Minority Owner, Washington Nationals), Max Siegel (CEO, USA Track & Field), Paris Wallace (Co-Founder and President, National Cycling League), Brian Michael Cooper (President & COO, American Flag Football League), CJ Harrington (Associate, Hogan Lovells), Fitzann Reid (Co-Founder, Cotogna Sports Group), and more. Diverse Representation Week

On August 7-11, Diverse Representation hosted its inaugural Diverse Representation Week in Los Angeles, California. Diverse Representation Week consisted of a compilation of panels, fireside chats, showcases, and networking opportunities for Black creatives and professionals in the sports and entertainment industries. Sports Agent Bootcamp

On March 10-11, 2023, Diverse Representation, in partnership with Southern University Law Center, hosted the second annual Sports Agent Bootcamp on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The aim of the Bootcamp was to equip Black students and Black professionals with the tools and skills to pursue careers as professional sports agents. Speakers included: Kelton Crenshaw (NFL Agent, Klutch Sports), Jovan Barnes (Vice President, Football, Independent Sports & Entertainment Football), Ryan Williams-Jenkins (Co-Founder / President of Football, Divine Sports & Entertainment), Aaron Henderson (Agent, Klutch Sports), Jumaane K. Ford (NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor, Vanguard Sports Group), Cecil White (Agent and Executive, WME Sports), Orlando Arnold (President, Pyramid Sports and Entertainment Group), Kristina Ross (VP/General Counsel, Pyramid Sports & Entertainment Group), and Josh Beauregard-Bell (Basketball Agent, Octagon). Speakers facilitated sessions on topics including strategies for agent exam studying, recruiting and managing clients, sponsorship and endorsement deals, and more.

A TOAST TO BLACK SPORTS (SUPER BOWL LVII)

On February 9, 2023, Diverse Representation and Minorities in Sports presented the inaugural Toast to Black Sports Luncheon during Super Bowl LVII. The goal of the private lunch was to not only celebrate Black sports executives but also provide a platform for Black sports executives to network and build meaningful connections. Additionally, the event highlighted those in the industry who go above and beyond to not only advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion but also actively work to improve it in their respective spaces.

Black Entertainment Career Summit

On January 12-14, 2023, Diverse Representation hosted its inaugural in-person Black Entertainment Career Summit. The aim of the Summit was to educate and expose Black professionals and creatives to various career opportunities in the entertainment industry. During the three-day event, attendees had the opportunity to participate in panel conversations, fireside chats and networking. Participating companies included: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Warner Bros. Discovery, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), William Morris Endeavor (WME), United Talent Agency (UTA), DreamWorks Animation, LinkedIn, NBCUniversal, Fremantle, and more.

2022 American Black Film Festival (Miami)

On June 17, 2022, Diverse Representation, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, hosted a panel and networking reception at the 2022 American Black Film Festival in Miami, FL. Attendees enjoyed an afternoon of conversation, cocktails, and networking featuring some of the creatives and executives behind Warner Bros. Discovery brands such as Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO Max, TNT, TBS, OWN, and more.

NBA All-Star Networking Brunch and Panel

On February 18, Diverse Representation hosted a networking brunch for Black agents, attorneys, publicists, financial advisors, and executives at NBA All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. The brunch was followed by a panel conversation featuring: Olivia Scarlett (Director of Talent Relations, Turner Sports), Josh Beauregard-Bell (NBA Agent, Octagon Sports) and Octavius Reid III (Senior Vice President and Global Sports and Entertainment Director, Morgan Stanley) and Frederick R. Nance (Global Managing Partner, Squire Patton Boggs).

Black Music Executives Pipeline Program Launch (Los Angeles)

On August 27th and 28th Diverse Representation and Color of Change hosted an intimate dinner and brunch in celebration of our inaugural Black Music Executives Pipeline Program in Los Angeles.


NBA All Star Weekend 2020 (Chicago)

On February 14, 2020, Diverse Representation, in collaboration with Porter Wright and Merrill Lynch, hosted a private brunch for African-American sports agents, advisors, attorneys, managers and executives. The brunch was followed by a panel conversation on the challenges faced by African-American advisors and executives and the unique ways in which they are protecting today's modern athlete. Panelists will also offer solutions to ensure greater diversity in athlete representation and the hiring of NBA team executives and staff.


How To Thrive As A Black Woman in the Entertainment Industry

On January 15, 2020, Diverse Representation presented a panel titled, “How to Survive as a Black Woman in the Entertainment Industry” at Milbank LLP in New York City. Panelists discussed their various career journeys and shared tools and tips for surviving and succeeding in the entertainment industry. Panelists included: Crystal McCrary (Film and television producer, director and author), LeToya Bacon (Director of Communications and Public Relations, BET Networks), Endi Piper (General Counsel, COMPLEX Networks), and Traci Wilkes Smith (Senior Vice President of Broadcasters, Client Representation group, CSE). 


NBA Weekend All-star Weekend 2019 (Charlotte)

On February 16, 2019, Diverse Representation hosted a networking brunch with African-American sports agents, attorneys, managers, team executives and special guests in partnership with K&L Gates in Charlotten, North Carolina. The brunch was followed by a panel conversation on diversity and the sports industry. Panelists include: Marcus Banks (Associate Team Counsel, Los Angeles Clippers), Ese Ighedosa (Associate Counsel, Carolina Panthers) and Jaime Wright (Vice President and Financial Advisor, Merrill Lynch).


Sundance

On January 26, 2019, Diverse Representation hosted a panel conversation at Sundance Film Festival about diversity and the entertainment industry from the perspective of African-American agents, attorneys, managers and publicists. Panelists included: Joy Ganes (Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at BBC Studios and former Head of Production at OWN Studios), BJ Coleman (Publicist, Image Elevators), Ava Greenfield (Television Literary Agent, ICM Partners) and James Jolly (Talent Manager, Stride Management).


Lionsgate

On December 4, 2018, Diverse Representation held its kick-off event at Lionsgate in Los Angeles. The event featured a reception and panel conversation about diversity and the entertainment industry from the perspective of African-American agents, managers, attorneys and publicists. The panel featured: Dana Gills (Director of Development and Production, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group), Brandon Lawrence (Talent Agent, CAA), Andrew Coles (Talent Manager, The Mission Entertainment), Rebecca Beliard (Attorney, Akerman LLP) and Francis Perdue (Publicist, PS Media Talent).
