[NASHVILLE PREDATORS] Legal Counsel

The Counsel position will assist the Chief Legal Officer, Assistant General Counsel and Counsel with preparing, negotiating and managing a variety of contracts and legal documents for the Nashville Hockey Club, LP (“Nashville Predators”), Powers Management, L.L.C., Mid-Ice, LLC, SS&E, and the Nashville Predators Foundation (collectively, the “Organization”). 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft rules and review materials for sweepstakes, contests and promotions.

  • Manage and supervise participants of the SE101 Legal Internship program.

  • Draft and manage sponsorship, suite, premium seating, promotional and merchandising contracts.

  • Draft and revise vendor/service, independent contractor, filming and non-disclosure agreements.

  • Responsible for assisting with corporate matters including but not limited to ownership transactions, as needed.

  • Responsible for assisting with development of consistent data privacy and security practices across the Organization, including but not limited to assessing systems and collection of data for compliance with data protection laws and regulations and development of agreement templates.

  • Responsible for various matters related to intellectual property, including but not limited to policing and enforcing the Organization’s intellectual property rights and ensuring that appropriate licensing rights are acquired for use of third-party intellectual property, as well as monitoring the Organization’s social media use of music.

  • Serve as the point person in legal for all promotional, merchandise and giveaway initiatives.

  • Support and manage marketing, branding and trademark business practices, including licensing and training of other departments.

  • Review and provide legal advice on all routine contracts and business arrangements for the Organization.

  • Collaborate with and advise other departments within the Organization to minimize risk and facilitate compliance issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.

  • Serve as the primary contact and liaison with the Organization’s Ford Ice Centers (Antioch, Bellevue and Clarksville) and work from each of these facilities, as well as F&M Bank Arena (Clarksville, TN) on a rotation at least once per month.

  • Track and ensure timely submission of the Organization’s corporate filing registrations and fees.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • Strong analytical and writing skills with attention to detail.

  • Business acumen with the ability to balance legal risk with commercial needs of the Organization.

  • Ability to execute and manage a high volume of projects and contracts independently and on short timeframes.

  • 3-5 years of post-JD legal experience in drafting contracts and handling intellectual property matters. Data privacy and security experience a plus.

  • Strategic and innovative thinker who can bring value to colleagues and find creative but practical business friendly approach to problem solving.

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Tennessee (or otherwise able to meet the requirement to Register as In-House Counsel with the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners) and in good standing.

  • Possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and be able to effectively interact at all levels within the Organization.

  • Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage and prioritize projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate complex legal matters to non-attorneys.
