What were some of your professional highlights of 2021?
My top 2021 professional highlights include leading PR and communications strategy for the relaunch of the Black News Channel, the first 24/7 cable news network dedicated to Black and brown audiences, premiering five new original shows including programs from respected New York Times columnist, Charles Blow as well as from Temple University professor and media personality, Marc Lamont Hill.
Additional highlights include winning new business from global play and entertainment company, Hasbro and Entertainment One, as well as from global entertainment app, TikTok.
What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
At the end of 2021 I was able to spearhead and oversee the launch of the Culture Soup Podcast, a new monthly video podcast series from R&CPMK, where I will interview cultural trailblazers, creative visionaries and brand leaders moving culture forward today, as well as highlight key multicultural trends and insights across entertainment, culture and marketing. I look forward to continuing to grow this platform in 2022, leveraging it to educate, inform and empower our clients as well as the broader industry on the importance, relevance and nuances of multicultural communities.
I wholeheartedly believe that entertainment is incredibly consequential to how so many of us understand and process the world around us and the people in it. By sitting at the intersection of entertainment, brands and culture, I plan to leverage this Culture Soup Podcast as yet another avenue to advocate for people first, change hearts and minds and provide brands with the tools needed to act authentically and responsibly on behalf of diverse communities.
This work is even more critical to me for 2022 as we head into midterm elections with key races around the country campaigning around important human rights and issues. It is my goal to always use my role and any platform that I may have to advocate for people and a more equitable world.
What is your theme word for 2022?
GRIT.
